People have come to realize the importance of maximizing the use of available space, and because of this, pegboards have become more popular now more than ever. A pegboard is essentially a sheet of sturdy material (usually plastic, wood byproduct, or metal) mounted upon a wall. The pegboard is perforated with evenly spaced holes, upon which hangers are placed. Many kinds of items can then be placed to hang onto the pegboard.

Plastic pegboard hangers, despite their apparent flimsiness, are made from synthetic materials that are of high quality. These materials provide a reasonable amount of stability and strength to support a variety of items. As they are made of plastic, they tend to be less expensive than hangers made from other kinds of materials, such as metal. They come in many shapes and sizes, and in various colors as well. White and black plastic hangers are common, but they can come in other colors as well so that they can better fit the color scheme of the pegboard.

The Primary Function of Plastic Pegboard Hangers

The thicker the hanger is, the more weight it is able to support. Plastic hangers can support all kinds of items, though it is not advisable to use the basic “J” design for heavier tools. But plastic hangers are best utilized when displaying store merchandise, as they can support most shop items, and the hangers come in many attractive and eye-catching colors.

The Pegboard Merchandise Display

Here are some tips to help you when using pegboard hangers for merchandise displays.

  • Make sure that you have installed the right kind of hanger for your merchandise. An item to be displayed alone can be hung on a hanger intended for just one item. An extended or elongated hanger can be used to hang a group of identical items so that your customers get one and leave the others on the hanger.

  • One of the easiest ways of placing your merchandise efficiently is to lay your pegboard flat while you arrange your items on it. By doing this way you can avoid the nuisance of detaching and re-attaching your hangers as you figure out your most effective arrangement. You should arrange your merchandise so that there is not much space between individual items, but for a more pleasing look the items shouldn't overlap one another. Not only does this scheme look more organized, but you won't be wasting space in the process, as well. Once you have decided on the arrangement of the merchandise, you can then attach the hangers. The pegboard is now ready to be displayed.

  • Your pegboard display can be used to entice passersby into your shop. A display that features your smaller and more intriguing merchandise can be set up on your front window, though it should be low enough so that people can see other items for sale in your shop.

  • Pegboard displays that feature your more popular merchandise should be set up in high traffic areas in your shop. Bulkier items should be displayed high up on the walls or placed at the back of the shop so that it does not impede your customers.

Though most people use pegboards as a means of storage, they have a commercial application as well. With the proper use of pegboards, you can provide a better visual atmosphere for your customers. You should also be able to promote your merchandise and increase your sales.
